Affordable Requirements Ordinance
ARO Watch
The recent amendments to the Affordable Requirements Ordinance include new provisions that would trigger affordability requirements in all projects receiving city assistance, including land, financing, and zoning changes that allow for greater density or for residential uses where it is currently not permitted under the existing zoning designation.
At the First Quarter 2007 DOH Report hearing, we raised the issue of accountability and transparency before the Housing and Real Estate Committee once these new rules take effect. Details concerning our position can be found in our 1Q 2007 DOH Production analysis.
Therefore, in an effort to assist stakeholders and decision-makers in ensuring that proper application of the ARO on every eligible development takes place, CRN will implement ARO Watch to keep track of residential projects which have the potential to invoke these new rules.
This tracking system will evolve as we continue to develop and expand this initiative as necessary. CRN will add new reports regularly below. The revised ARO can be found at the City of Chicago website here.
